We turned 200,000 miles on Chispa (Spanish for spark or ‘sparky’) our 2013 Ford C Max Energi at mile marker 41 eastbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway.
This vehicle has been a source of income, a connection to friends and family, and a faithful vessel on many an adventure.
It’s ferried us across desserts, over mountains, and through snow storms.
It’s given us shelter from the elements, safe passage to unknown destinations, and a safe place to sleep whenever we’ve needed it.
Apart from routine maintenance and upkeep, we have had zero mechanical problems with this vehicle thus far. ZERO. And all with an average fuel economy of about 35 mpg. The amount of money and worry that has saved us is alone worth the acknowledgment.
Chispa has taken us from Texas to Washington State, California to Ohio and everywhere in between, safely and worry-free. For that we owe this craft a tremendous debt of gratitude.
If you know me you know I’m not big on material possessions. I am one for quality over quantity. And I appreciate the things in this life that have been good to me. This car has been the most dependable, most reliable, most faithful car I have ever owned and for that I give thanks.
Had it been 200,000 miles spent any other way, this milestone might not’ve meant what it did. As it is, this car has probably saved a part of my life.
Here’s to the road ahead. Here’s to the destinations we have yet to see with Chispa. Here’s to the people we will meet and the memories we will make along the way. Here’s to the next 200,000 miles and beyond.
