Early morning solace on Nickajack Lake near Macedonia Baptist Church (2023.03.05).
We found ourselves in Guild, Tennessee yesterday afternoon and decided to poke around and see what there was to see.
Decided to bed down at a little boat ramp parking lot (Jasper, Tennessee according to Apple Maps) to watch sunrise — and we were not disappointed.
The air was chilly this morning. Maybe around 46°/8°. But we were warm. We woke to the sound of bird song and the caw of crows as well as the quack of waterfowl swimming in the lake.
We laid in bed for a good while before getting up.
I’m a native Houstonian. A life of traveling has led me to see my city in a new light, with a perspective I couldn’t have enjoyed before. Houston is so much more than a burgeoning metropolis borne on the banks of a bayou. Her arts, culture, food scene, and diversity make her a standout city. With Highlight Houston I want to focus on the qualities that make the city unique unto herself.
