For Lack of a Better World

We have found ourselves at the end of January and we have found ourselves at the end of the map in Key West watching the most beautiful sunset.

I am so glad we made the effort to drive down to Key West while we were in Miami. I was explaining to my mother on the phone the other night that THIS was the trip.

Had I known what it was like I might’ve gotten here sooner but I’m so glad we’re here now.

If you ever find an excuse to be here, please take it. I can guarantee you’ll find your vibe here.

You’re probably going to want to bring some walking-around money. There are plenty of places that will take it, too. But as someone who is accustomed to being someone just to be there, I can assure you, you can be here on a modest budget as well. Accommodations and travel will probably be your biggest expenses. Anything else you can arrange to meet your specifics. You can eat ramen noodles and ham and cheese sandwiches on square bread if you have to.

Anyway, enough about that except to tell you that I highly recommend you find yourself here some day.

As for Luna and myself, it’s possible we have found a January hideaway for the future. We initially came down for our mental health. The days were too short and cold anymore in Tennessee and Luna’s sunset walks were happening at 4 in the afternoon. Egads!

So once the holidays were over it only seemed fitting to pluck a few more destinations off the ‘Man, I wish I would’ve visited that place while I still had the time and energy’ board that I’m hoping to leave blank by the time my time on Earth has come to an end.

I’m so happy we’re here. And I’m so happy Luna gets to see this place, too. We’ve met a lot of people who have showered Luna with affection because they miss their dogs who they weren’t able to bring. So I do not take it for granted that she gets to be here with me.
