We took the morning to explore some of Lake Monona, the eastern most lake that creates Madison isthmus. Our destination was Olbrich Park on the northern shore of the lake.

We begin with a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich from The Victory Madison, a short walk from where we parked at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens.

After breakfast, we walked through the neighborhood south of Atwood Avenue to get to the lake shore, following sidewalks, then a trail, and finally a bike path into and through the park.

The views over the lake and toward the capitol building were worth the trip. The neighborhood around the park was quiet and well maintained.
As always, Luna was apprehensive near the water’s edge. But I was able to get a few images of her lakeside to commemorate the visit.

Her real joy would be found in the grass where she would run exuberantly in all directions, playing a version of tag with me to get me to play along, stopping frequently to sniff, piss on, and rolling in grass for the duration of our walk.
We made our way back to the truck on the other side of the street where Luna hit up a crew of workers having lunch, parlaying a close encounter to sweep for food that might’ve found its way to the ground into an entire cheese stick!
