Exploring High Cliff State Park

After visiting Oshkosh and the western bank of Lake Winnebago we wanted to see sunset from the eastern bank. So we made our way around past Appleton and to High Cliff State Park.

While we waited for sunset we got to explore the park some. We were not disappointed. Even in the little time we had we were able to see so many changes in scenery.

Fields, forests, bluffs, rock formations… and so much green!

We took a challenging trail down toward the lakeshore hoping to see the sun over the water. It got muddy at the bottom and dredging through ankle deep mud in our paws wasn’t anything we were interested in so we trekked back up the ridge — the real challenge.

We wound up watching sunset on a jetty near the marina then had a long conversation with a nice couple, which was the final nudge we needed to commit ourselves to seeing Door County, then watching a spider weave a really impressive web on the truck’s passenger side mirror in an astonishingly short time.

But the imagery we were able to capture during our hike was enough for this compilation.

Enjoy.
