For Lack of a Better World

We went for a moderate afternoon hike through the woods to show Luna some of the places I used to play in as a kid.

Snow had begun to fall during our hike. Nothing dramatic, but enough to create a wintry atmosphere while we walked.

As we got back in the car and warmed back up, the falling snow caught Luna’s attention and she watched it briefly.

I love to catch her looking skyward. It makes me feel like she’s aware of her surroundings and it makes me wonder what her imagination, whatever that may be for a creature like her, might be like.

I’ve watched her stare at a seemingly motionless moon hovering in the air as we drove down the highway.

I’ve seen her watch birds and planes and clouds. She’s also looked up the side of buildings whenever she caught the movement of a person or equipment or a light feature. I can now add falling snow to the list.
